17 Wiggle Wednesday 11:00AM

Special athletic time, designed just for children ages 3 through 6 and their adults. Come wiggle, squirm, and dance as we enjoy music, movement, stories, songs, and rhymes. Great opportunity to get some kid friendly exercise and get those energetic kiddos moving. Limited to 15 children. In the Kids Room


17, 19, 23, 26, 30 Stroller Strides 9:00AM

Stroller Strides is a total fitness program for new moms that they can do with their babies. It includes Power Walking and intervals of body toning using exercise tubing and the stroller. Taught by specially trained instructors, it's a great workout for any level of exerciser. Please get doctor's permission before starting this or any other exercise. Click here for more information.


18 Soar To The Moon 2:00 PM

Put on your flight suit ad spaceboots and fly to the Kids Room as we discover the science behind Fly Me To The Moon. Even if you haven't seen the movie, you'll enjoy our fun space experiments. Get messy with our space slime, roam the moon to learn about its surface, conduct experiments about gravity or get cozy with one of our space books. This rendezvous with the Kids Room astronauts will be a blast for everyone. In the Kids Room

19, 26 Fridays After Five

Every Friday until March 27, 2009, the Maryland Science Center is just $8 for admission to its exhibit halls, planetarium, and IMAX Theater on Friday evenings beginning at 5:00pm or later. One low price covers everything except national touring exhibitions. Children under 3 are always free! Plus, Maryland Science Center Members are admitted to Fridays After Five free of charge. 20, 27 Egg Drop, Price Drop Before Noon

Visitors arriving before noon on Saturdays will receive a $5 discount on admission–and an egg. Maryland Science Center Staff will provide the materials and the "egg-spert" advice to help visitors create their original protective device for the egg, which will be dropped off the balcony of the third floor of the Maryland Science Center's atrium to see if it can survive the fall. 21 Celebrate the Solstice Noon-4:00 PM

Celebrate the winter solstice with activities in SpaceLink, view the Sun through the Observatory telescope and see demonstrations of the Sun's motion in the Davis Planetarium.

29, 30, 31, 1, 2 Holiday Week Explorations 2:00-3:00 PM daily

Each day the Learning Lab will feature one activity for families to participate in together. Explore evergreens underneath our handheld microscope and make your own unique prints, feel the forces that hold your holiday decorations up and let the New Year's ball down, conduct chilly experiments to discover why we salt the roads in the winter, learn what lights up our holidays, or investigate the sounds of the season. 31 Midnight Noon 10:00AM-2:00 PM

Don't lose sleep over ringing in the New Year! Come down to the Maryland Science Center as we celebrate the New Year at Noon– party with the popular kids band Milkshake taking the stage at 11:30, a ball drop at Noon, a puppet performance by the Blue Sky Puppet Theater at 1:00, and while you're here make your own party hat and noisemaker.
