Harbaugh looks for team players

Earlier this year, cornerback Samari Rolle was shocked when he went to his locker.

His clothes were gone. So were his family pictures and his nameplate.

"I didn't know if I was still on the team," Rolle said.

Rolle was still part of the team, but the Ravens' old ways of living were clearly gone.

In one of his first moves after taking over for Brian Billick, Ravens coach John Harbaugh shook up the locker room, mixing offensive linemen with defensive ones and putting linebackers next to quarterbacks.

Harbaugh's philosophy is based on -- as the sign that welcomes players into the locker room reads -- "Team, Team, Team."

Possible new route for Ravens: starting three receivers
One of the questions heading into Ravens minicamp was the pecking order of the wide receivers. But Derrick Mason, Demetrius Williams and Mark Clayton aren't battling against each other. They are teaming up in pursuit of a common goal. If this unit plays up to expectations, there is a possibility the Ravens could use three wide receivers as their primary formation. more

Rice, Ross, Daniels vie for backup job
The offseason decisions not to re-sign veteran running back Musa Smith and to cut Mike Anderson left the Ravens without a proven backup to Willis McGahee. Ray Rice, who was picked in the second round out of Rutgers in last month's draft, will likely get the longest look from new coach John Harbaugh, but third-year players Cory Ross and P.J. Daniels could also get their share of repetitions when training camp opens in July. more

David Steele: "NFL practices, no matter what time of year, erupt into slugfests from time to time. But all things considered in what used to be dubbed Camp Creampuff, there was nothing ordinary about what happened at the indoor practice facility in Owings Mills Saturday." more

Orioles minor league notebook: Shortstop Tucker sparks Delmarva
Delmarva Shorebirds shortstop Matt Tucker said he doesn't come to the ballpark every day thinking about his batting average or any other statistics. "I'm here to make it to the major leagues," the Aurora, Colo., native said Friday afternoon from Lexington, Ky., where he was waiting to play the Legends. "That's what we're all here for." Tucker, 24, said the Single-A Shorebirds' emphasis is on winning and not "whether I hit .300 or .250." more

Believing in 'Bear'
Trainer Reade Baker looked around the Pimlico Race Course barn Saturday morning. What he saw was the rain pounding on the roof and, aside from his Preakness entry Kentucky Bear, a lot of empty stalls. "I'm from the old school," Baker said. "I've been in this a long time, and I've always thought you take a good horse to a big race early. more
