EDITOR'S PICK

Mark: baltimoremetromix.com picks

I think I've only got one real commitment this weekend. Thursday and Friday are obligation free, save the standard cry of "schoolwork, schoolwork, schoolwork." Maybe I'll go see a movie or something. My to-see list is getting longer and longer. Considering I still haven't seen "Where the Wild Things Are," I'm not sure I'll make it to see "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire," "The Blind Side" or "The Twilight Saga: New Moon." (Heh. I kid. Not a chance I'd suffer through "Twilight.")

Saturday night is a Bad Decisions birthday extravaganza! I've been told via Gchat that "bacon wrapped water chesnuts are on :)," as if the celebration itself weren't enough to get me to attend. (In most other cases, though, bacon is a surefire way to lure me in. For instance, I'd probably insist on weekly checkups, if I thought the dentist would offer bacon after each visit. Just sayin'.)

On Sunday, I hope to watch the Ravens crush the Colts. I'm sure it'll be a much more anxiety-filled, hair-pulling, nail-biting, shout-inducing experience than that, though. Ugh.

Thursday night I'm totally stoked about seeing oddball Crispin Hellion Glover at The Charles. He'll be on hand to present his Big Slide Show, a one-hour dramatic narration of eight different books and a screening of "It is Fine. Everything is Fine." There'll also be a question-and-answer session and book signing. If nothing else, it should be...different.

Friday, along with the rest of classic-rock loving Baltimore, I'll be at 1st Mariner Arena watching The Boss do what he does best--rock out with classics from his expansive playlist. I know he'll be performing "Born to Run," but I'm hoping for some more recent hits, as well. I have it on good authority that Springsteen still crowd surfs and performs for close to three hours. So, yeah, I'll be there.

Also Friday, a friend celebrates her birthday the hysterical teen way by catching a screening of "Twilight: New Moon" at Landmark Harbor East.

Fortunately, Saturday, there's a Birthday: The Sequel event I can participate in. I'm hearing rumblings that it's an outing to Illusions Magic Bar in Federal Hill. Since I've never been there, that sounds just like the sort of corny activity I'd be willing to embrace. Once.

Sunday, I'll be doing domestic-gal, holiday prep stuff (Santa's workshop is officially open and there's lots of orders to fill) while hoping for another Ravens victory.
